Machine Operator

An experienced Machine Operator is required to support a modern beverage packaging operation in Otago, New Zealand. This role is suited to someone with hands-on production machinery experience who can confidently set up, operate, monitor and troubleshoot equipment.

The position offers the opportunity to work with increasingly automated packaging systems and develop specialist skills across machinery operation, maintenance and production optimisation.

• Operate canning, filling, sealing and associated packaging equipment
• Set up, start, operate and shut down production machinery
• Complete product changeovers and make machine adjustments
• Monitor equipment performance and maintain efficient production flow
• Identify and troubleshoot machinery faults, stoppages and breakdowns
• Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and basic mechanical maintenance
• Identify recurring equipment issues, bottlenecks and production improvements
• Monitor product quality, fills, seams and carbonation during production
• Maintain accurate production records and inventory movements
• Follow food safety, quality, workplace health and safety procedures
• Assist with warehousing, kegging, packaging and finished product handling
• Support the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new machinery
• Work with automated equipment and contribute to ongoing production improvements
• Take ownership of machinery performance and day-to-day packaging operations

• Minimum 2 years of relevant production or manufacturing machinery operating experience
• Previous experience as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or similar
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
• Experience setting up, adjusting and troubleshooting production machinery
• Ability to identify machinery faults and determine appropriate solutions
• Confidence performing basic mechanical adjustments and maintenance
• Interest in machinery, automation and production technology
• Strong attention to quality, safety and operational detail
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to work across different production tasks
• Ability to take responsibility for production equipment and its performance
• Experience with automated packaging, food or beverage production, canning or bottling is advantageous
• Willingness to work and establish a long-term career in New Zealand
