Furniture Upholsterer

An established furniture upholstery business with over 30 years of experience is seeking a skilled Upholsterer to join their team in Auckland, New Zealand. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced professional who can independently recover and upholster a wide range of furniture, from antique pieces to modern designs. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate with the required skills and experience.

• Recover and upholster various types of furniture including antique and modern pieces
• Strip, repair, and restore furniture coverings to a high-quality standard
• Use upholstery tools, equipment, and materials safely and effectively
• Lift and move furniture frames on and off work benches and into vehicles when required
• Complete upholstery work independently with minimal supervision or assistance
• Ensure finished products meet quality and customer expectations
• Work collaboratively with other team members including specialists in sewing and frame making
• Assist with additional upholstery-related tasks during busy periods
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment

• Minimum 5 years of professional upholstery experience
• Ability to upholster a wide range of furniture styles and designs
• Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and tools
• Physically fit and capable of handling furniture frames and heavy items
• Ability to work independently with minimal training required
• Experience using upholstery equipment safely and efficiently
• Additional skills in cutting, sewing, or frame making will be highly regarded
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime when required
