The Opportunity

Take ownership of technical field operations across multiple sites in New Zealand with a role that combines leadership, technical oversight, commercial performance and compliance.

We are seeking an experienced technical or field-based leader who understands both the work and the people delivering it. You will lead a distributed technical team, coordinate resources around compliance requirements and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and within accredited scopes.

This is a hands-on senior position suited to someone who can make sound operational decisions, maintain high technical standards and step into the field when additional supervision or capacity is required.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and resource technical work across multiple sites and fixed compliance cycles
Lead and coordinate a geographically distributed technical team
Maintain consistent technical and service standards across all locations
Monitor utilisation, job margins and work in progress
Plan workforce capability and allocate suitably qualified inspectors to each job
Ensure all work remains within approved accredited scopes and authorisations
Lead and promote health and safety standards across field operations
Manage escalated client concerns and provide effective solutions
Provide technical supervision and hands-on field support when required
Work closely with technical services, compliance and finance teams
Identify operational requirements and improve resource planning
Support business growth while maintaining quality, compliance and commercial performance

Requirements & Eligibility

Proven experience managing a technical, inspection or field-based team
Practical trade or technical experience with a strong understanding of field operations
Relevant trade or tertiary qualification
Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Commercial understanding of utilisation, job costing, margins and work in progress
Ability to maintain technical standards without excessive micromanagement
Strong understanding of work scope, authorisation and compliance requirements
Experience working under ISO/IEC 17020 or ISO/IEC 17025 is advantageous
Experience in electricity distribution or a related technical environment is advantageous
Strong leadership, communication and client management skills
Full driver's licence
Willingness to travel between work sites as required
