Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to take a client-side leadership role delivering complex building, venue, and infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio of arts, cultural, sporting, and public-facing facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically capable project professional who understands how to deliver construction and renewal projects in complex, live environments where safety, quality, budgets, timelines, and operational continuity are critical.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and senior leadership to plan, manage, and deliver physical works from project definition through to completion.

• Lead the planning, development, and delivery of building and physical works projects
• Manage complex construction, renewal, refurbishment, fit-out, and building services projects
• Develop project scopes, programmes, budgets, and delivery plans
• Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Monitor project schedules, costs, quality, risks, and performance
• Provide effective project communication and regular reporting to senior stakeholders
• Identify and resolve technical, operational, and project delivery issues
• Ensure projects comply with applicable building standards, legislation, consents, and regulatory requirements
• Manage projects within live and operational buildings while minimising disruption
• Oversee critical building systems including electrical, mechanical, fire, structural, and water services
• Manage project documentation, procurement processes, contracts, and project records
• Work with stakeholders to establish project priorities, requirements, and outcomes
• Maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and project partners
• Provide accurate financial and progress reporting throughout the project lifecycle
• Support continuous improvement across project delivery processes
• Mentor colleagues and share technical and project management knowledge
• Manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively

• Proven experience managing construction, building, venue, or renewal projects
• Experience delivering projects within large or complex building portfolios
• Strong technical knowledge of building services, construction, refurbishment, fit-out, or building renewal projects
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, fire, structural, and water-related building systems
• Experience working within large publicly accessible, commercial, civic, cultural, sporting, or events facilities is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of how to maintain safe and operational buildings during construction or renewal works
• Good knowledge of New Zealand Building Code, building consents, standards, and regulatory requirements
• Understanding of consultancy and construction contracts, including NZS 3910
• Strong project management, planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, budgets, and priorities
• Strong technical proficiency and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks and develop practical solutions
• Experience using project management methodologies, systems, and tools
• Ability to mentor, support, and share knowledge with team members
• Relevant qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is desirable
• Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications
