The Opportunity

We are seeking skilled and motivated automotive refinishing professionals for permanent, full-time opportunities in New Zealand. Positions are available for an Experienced Automotive Spray Painter and a Paintshop Prepper / Assistant.

The Spray Painter role is suited to an experienced professional who can deliver high-quality refinishing work, achieve excellent colour matches and maintain consistent finishing standards. The Prepper / Assistant position is ideal for someone with automotive preparation experience or a motivated candidate looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career in automotive refinishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automotive Spray Painter
  • Prepare vehicles and panels for painting and refinishing
  • Carry out automotive spray painting to a high standard
  • Perform accurate colour matching and refinishing work
  • Ensure excellent paint finish and attention to detail
  • Complete work efficiently while meeting production timeframes
  • Maintain consistent quality without compromising productivity
  • Work independently and as part of a professional team
  • Maintain a clean, organised and productive paintshop
  • Follow workplace safety and quality procedures
  • Paintshop Prepper / Assistant
  • Prepare vehicles and panels for refinishing
  • Carry out sanding, masking and surface preparation
  • Assist with priming and preparation work
  • Support the Spray Painter with day-to-day paintshop requirements
  • Help move jobs efficiently through the paintshop
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Assist the team with general paintshop duties
  • Develop automotive refinishing and preparation skills
  • Work towards an apprenticeship opportunity where applicable

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Automotive Spray Painter applicants should have solid experience in automotive spray painting
  • Strong colour-matching and refinishing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality finishes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet production deadlines
  • Strong understanding of automotive paint preparation and refinishing processes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to quality workmanship
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Paintshop Prepper / Assistant applicants should have previous automotive paint preparation experience or a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience with sanding, masking and surface preparation is advantageous
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude and willingness to develop new skills
  • Ability to work in a busy, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to maintaining quality and workplace standards
