The Opportunity

An established automotive workshop in New Zealand is looking to add experienced Panel Beaters and Spray Painters as its workload continues to grow.

The focus is on finding tradespeople whose skills and employment experience can be clearly demonstrated and verified. This is an opportunity for professionals who are confident working with different vehicle makes and models and who can deliver quality results without needing constant supervision.

You will be expected to take ownership of your work, follow professional repair processes and contribute positively to a busy, multicultural workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out vehicle panel repairs and body restoration
  • Perform panel beating work across different vehicle makes and models
  • Complete professional spray painting and refinishing
  • Carry out rust repairs and related bodywork
  • Prepare panels and surfaces before painting
  • Complete repair work from preparation through to final completion
  • Assess damaged areas and apply suitable repair methods
  • Maintain a high standard of finish across completed vehicles
  • Follow workshop procedures, safety practices and quality requirements
  • Complete jobs within agreed timeframes
  • Work independently and manage daily repair tasks effectively
  • Coordinate with other workshop staff throughout the repair process
  • Maintain clean and organised work areas
  • Assist with race car preparation and related events or track days when required
  • Provide support to the wider workshop team during busy periods

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in Panel Beating or Spray Painting
  • Hands-on experience working with a range of vehicle makes and models
  • Rust repair experience required for Panel Beater applicants
  • Ability to manage and complete repair jobs independently
  • Strong practical understanding of automotive body repair or refinishing
  • Ability to provide evidence supporting previous employment and trade experience
  • Consistent attention to detail and quality
  • Strong work ethic and professional attitude
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Comfortable working with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team
  • Good spoken English is essential

  • Availability for Saturday work during busy periods when required
