Support Worker

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join a leading disability support organisation in the Northland region of New Zealand.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support people with intellectual disabilities to live independently, develop life skills, and actively participate in their communities. You will work closely with individuals to promote independence, wellbeing, and inclusion while providing person-centred support in a safe and respectful environment.

This is a full-time permanent position offering a minimum of 60 guaranteed hours per fortnight, with overtime opportunities and paid sleepover shifts. Employer-sponsored work visa support is available for eligible international applicants.

• Support individuals with daily living activities and personal care
• Assist with showering, dressing, grooming, and medication support
• Encourage independence in everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and using public transport
• Support individuals to achieve personal goals, hobbies, and community participation
• Promote healthy lifestyles and overall wellbeing
• Provide positive behaviour support while maintaining dignity and respect
• Build strong relationships with clients, families, and team members
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation
• Use digital devices such as tablets and computers for daily reporting
• Work flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and sleepover shifts

• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3 (or recognised equivalent) with at least 3 years of relevant healthcare experience
• OR NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (or recognised equivalent)
• Experience supporting people with disabilities or in the healthcare sector
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Confident using computers and tablets
• Physically fit to provide practical support when required
• Full New Zealand Driver Licence or the ability to obtain one
• Willingness to work a rotating roster including weekends, evenings, and sleepover shifts
