Upholsterer

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Upholsterer to join a growing and well-established business in the South Island region of New Zealand. This full-time position offers a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week and involves working on a diverse range of residential, commercial, hospitality, marine, and custom upholstery projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality upholstery, restoration, and refurbishment work while maintaining excellent craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) sponsorship may be available for suitably qualified international applicants.

• Repair, reupholster, and refurbish furniture including sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, ottomans, and custom pieces
• Manufacture custom squabs, cushions, headboards, and upholstered furniture
• Complete commercial upholstery projects for hospitality, accommodation, office, and retail environments
• Undertake marine and outdoor upholstery work
• Measure, cut, sew, and install fabrics, leather, vinyl, foam, and other upholstery materials
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble furniture as required
• Calculate material requirements and assist with project planning
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control
• Ensure a clean, organised, and safe working environment
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet project deadlines and client expectations

• Proven experience as an Upholsterer
• Ability to independently manage upholstery projects from start to finish
• Experience working with fabric, leather, vinyl, foam, and commercial-grade materials
• Strong furniture restoration and repair skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role
• Valid driver's licence preferred
• Willingness to relocate to New Zealand if applying from overseas
